Teaching Expertise

My teaching experience encompasses a range of HCI-related topics, spanning both theoretical foundations and practical applications. I’ve had the opportunity to engage with students at various levels, from undergraduate introductions to advanced master’s level courses, as well as developing training materials for broader audiences. My primary teaching areas include:

  • Human-Computer Interaction: Covering fundamental principles, user research methodologies, and interaction design.
  • Human-Centered Design: Focusing on user-centered approaches to design and development, with a particular emphasis on accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Technology for Health and Well-being: Exploring the application of HCI and user-centered design in the context of health and well-being, particularly for older adults and other vulnerable populations.
  • Software Engineering: Covering core software engineering principles and practices.

Courses Taught

Here’s a chronological overview of the courses I have taught:

  • 2023-2024: Advanced Aspects of Interactive Systems (Master’s), Hochschule Bielefeld. Developed and delivered lectures and practical exercises on advanced HCI topics, including novel interaction paradigms, advanced prototyping techniques, and user interface evaluation methods.
  • 2021: Introduction to Human-centred design (Undergraduate), UNSW Sydney. Introduced core HCD principles, methodologies, and practical applications to undergraduate students, emphasizing user needs analysis and iterative design processes.
  • 2016: Design that Matters (Master’s), University of Trento. Designed and delivered a master’s level course focused on applying human-centered design to address challenges in health and well-being, with a focus on older adults and their specific needs.
  • 2016-2021: Training Material Development, Politecnico di Milano & EIT Digital Professional School. Developed and delivered training materials on chatbot development (Politecnico di Milano, 2021) and service-oriented computing for health applications (MOOC, EIT Digital Professional School, 2016). These materials were designed for online delivery and aimed to provide practical skills in these emerging areas.
  • 2016-2019: Supervision & Mentorship, University of Trento. Provided research guidance and mentorship to Master’s and PhD students involved in the DREAM project, supporting their research design, data analysis, and academic writing.
  • 2008-2016: Software Engineering I & II (Teaching Assistant), University of Trento. Assisted Prof. Fabio Casati in delivering undergraduate courses on fundamental software engineering principles and practices, including software development methodologies, web development basics, testing, and quality assurance.
